Barn conversion

Conversion of existing barn.

The space was then knocked through into the existing property at the other end and we added oak trusses and bi-folding doors to create the bright, contemporary space we see here. The well was a discovery made whilst the floor was being excavated. Our clients decided to open that up, fit a lighting system and seal it with laminated glass. Once lit up, it became an intriguing feature.

Eventually, the external walls will be clad in pitch (black) horizontal timber boards, in keeping with many barns in the area.

The Turkey sheds are part of a larger restoration project of a Grade II listed farm house and outbuildings near Reading, Berkshire. Originally the sheds were serving as storage whilst the rest of the house and gardens were being restored. We were able to almost completely rebuild the turkey sheds due to their general state of dilapidation and keep one end for storage, add a shower room/ wc in between the storage and the new kitchen area.
